Ropes In Paradise Is the first Little Wings album that is 90% cover songs (other People's Material) The songs were picked by Kyle Mullarky, myself and the late Neal Casal and recorded and worked on over the course of two or so years. Finished in the Fall of 2018 a day before the catastrophic Woolsey Fire that tore through Southern California. Kyle Mullarky's rental house burned to the ground (it was once the home of "Captain & Tenille" Daryl Dragon & Toni Tenille) though his home and studio where Ropes In Paradise, Explains & People were mixed and recorded still stands til this day. Originally we planned to have an album release show for this recording with the original band playing live together but those plans were cut short when the guitar player on this album, Neal Casal, Took his own life in the summer of 2019. It was an unbelievable loss and I personally was really pained by his passing. It came only a few weeks after David Berman's suicide which also devastated myself and countless others. I didn't want this album to come out then, didn't want to capitalize on tragedy and let the release go by almost unnoticed. Now here we are and we are under a new month of quarantine for the Virus... and I feel everyone must stay as positive as possible and try to be productive in new ways to preserve our mental health as a collective population. Sending this album out there as a comforter of old wisdom which is mainly not my own, in these strange and discomforting times. It helps me to remember that the human race has been through similar things in the past and over time and it's not the problem itself but how we face it. Sending love and solidarity and hoping that everyone does their best to fight this thing by staying isolated when you can and being extremely careful when you must go out there. In hope, Kyle
